"On arriving on deck B[onaparte] said to Adm. G.C. [Sir George Cockburn] 'Here I am General at your orders' then asked to be introduced to the Captain with whom he conversed. He ate heartily at dinner - almost of every dish - praised everything & seemed perfectly contented and reconciled to his fate. Talked much of his Russian Campaign, said he needed only to have refreshed his troops at Moscow for 4 or 5 days & then to have marched for Petersburgh, but the destruction of Moscow disconnected all his projects...".
