(Some minor browning, show-through from early ink annotations on several leaves, a few running titles shaved slightly.) Eighteenth-century roan, spine gilt. Provenance: Reinhold Kleinefeldt of Danzig (17th-century "et amicorum" inscription, Biblical quotations); G. Suning (signature on title); Gustave Charles Antoine Marie van Havre (19th-century armorial bookplate).

During the reigns of Charles V and Philippe II, Damhouder occupied the highest judicial position in Holland during the reigns of Charles V and Philippe II. His Praxis rerum criminalium was first published under the title Enchiridion rerum criminalium in Louvain in 1554, and is one of the few early illustrated books on a legal subject.
