Lot Essay

Based on the quality and style of the shaded cloisonn enamel, this casket was probably executed by Fedor Rckert, who worked almost exclusively for the firm of Faberg. Sergei Solomko is listed among the miniaturists working for Faberg mentioned by Franz Birbaum. For a kovsh with a similar enamelled scene, see St. Petersburg, State Hermitage Museum, Faberg: Imperial Jeweller, (1993), no.218.
