A BLUE-GROUND EMBROIDERED SILK GAUZE DRAGON ROBE, JI FU
Late 19th Century
Worked on the front and back in counted stitch and couched gold threads with nine five-clawed writhing dragons confronting flaming pearls, reserved on a ground of cloud clusters interspersed with crane roundels, bats and other auspicious emblems, picked out in shades of blue, green, yellow and white against a dark blue ground, with black-ground collar and cuffs similarly decorated and sleeve extensions with gold couched stripes, all above the terrestrial diagram and lishui stripe at the hem
