A RARE PEACOCK FEATHER-GROUND KESI DOOR HANGING
18th/19th Century
The lower shaped panel of ogival outline woven in muted tones of blue, green, rust and cream with five phoenix in flight grasping peony branches in their beaks amidst cloud clusters and reserved on a peacock feather ground, below the upper rectangular panel woven in a similar palette against a rust ground with a pair of striding four-clawed dragons confronting a flaming pearl above a band of rocks and waves, all within a composite floral and butterfly scroll border also on a rust ground
