AN APULIAN RED-FIGURE COLUMN-KRATER
a-side attributed to the baltimore painter, b-side attributed to the stoke on trent painter
circa last quarter of the 4th century b.c.
The A-side with a seated Eros, winged and facing left, with a dish of cake in his right hand, a cista hanging from his left, a fillet in the field; the B-side with a profile female head facing left, both sides with double columns of dots framing the scene, rays on the rim with palmettes above the handles, a band of wave on the outer rim, ivy and berry on the neck, stripes on the shoulder, and a band of meander below the scenes
