AN APULIAN RED-FIGURE SKYPHOS
attributed to the fogg group
circa late 4th century b.c.
One side with a draped female figure facing left, standing with her left leg crossing in front of her right, leaning on a short ionic column, holding a cista in her right hand, a bunch of grapes and a rosette chain falling below, a fan and a thyrsus in her left hand, a rosette and fillet in the field; the other side with a winged Eros moving to the right, holding a phiale in both hands, a cross-bar torch below, rosettes and a bunch of grapes in the field, with a band of ovolo below the rim, a band of wave below the scenes, with palmette complexes under the handles, details in added white and yellow
