Four parts in two volumes, 4o (201 x 158 mm) [Vol. 1], (199 x 155 mm) [Vol. 2]. Lacking folding maps [Vol. 1], numerous engraved plates in text, some full page. (Lacks A1 frontispiece, title fore-margin trimmed [Vol. 1]; lacks Ll4 at end [Vol. 2].) Later boards (rubbed) [Vol. 1]; contemporary English calf (some wear to spine ends) [Vol. 2].
Provenance: Dr. Reuz (signature on title-page); E. Glooner (signature on front flyleaf and possibly his marginalia and extensive notations on blank end pages); owner's stamp on front flyleaf [Vol. 1]. W. FIRST EDITION. The first two parts of Burnet's Theory of the Earth, on Paradise and the Deluge, were originally published in Latin in 1681. In 1689 he reissued the first two parts (not present) adding two additional parts on the Conflagration and Millenium.
