A LACQUER WRITING BOX (SUZURIBAKO)

The large, rectangular box with canted corners elaborately decorated in bright gold takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, togidashi and gold foil on a hirame ground with mountains, a waterfall, flowering cherries, clouds and a thatched tea house; the interior fitted with trays, an inkstone, an oval silver mizuire with saucer, a paper-pricker, paper knife and ink cake holder in nashiji cases mounted in silver and with two brushes, also in nashiji cases
