Circa 1730, blue crossed swords mark, the cover inset with coins dated 1707 and 1708
Of cylindrical form with loop handle, painted with a Chinaman and attendants standing before a fence and with branches of flowering peony and prunus below a trellis band reserved with single flowerheads, the silver-gilt hinged cover set with a silver thaler of George Ludwig, Electory of Saxony, dated 1707 encircled by eight smaller coins dated 1708 within a shaped gadrooned border, the thumb rest as split scrolls, the footrim mount as chased stiff leaftips
