A GOLD-MOUNTED VIENNA NEO-CLASSICAL SNUFF-BOX AND COVER

Of canted rectangular form, the top with a Wedgwood style textured oval blue plaque applied in white with the 'Marchande d'Amours' after Joseph-Marie Vien, reserved within a pink, yellow and white gold garland of roses on the gilt trellis ground enclosing green enamel dots, the sides of the box with a garland of flowers on a faux-hardstone ground similarly reserved, the canted corners en grisaille with classical portraits on a sang-de-boeuf ground, the bottom in colours on the same ground with a winged angel tying a wreath of roses on her head, the interior of the cover and box gilt, the cover also chased with honeycomb
