Lot Essay

The sculptor played an important role in the history of Thai modern sculpture. Like most of the artists from the South East Asia, Khien strove to express an intrinsic traditional aesthetism in a modern context. It was commented that "The beauty of line, volume and shape that is intrinsic in Buddha images of Sukhotai period sculpture was adopted in his work."
