Lot Essay

Soo Pieng is one of the four pioneer artists who went on the historic field trip to Bali in 1952. He is often noted as the most versatile among the four, not merely because he is equally comfortable with the various types of medium but mainly because of the artist's inexhaustible drive of innovation.
This innovative spirit of the artist has prompted him to create new aesthetical images constantly; women with elongated arms and almond-shaped eyes was one of his more popular creations.
