A boxed set of four carte-de-visite albums, each with chromo-lithographed borders on alternate pages, brown leather, ruled gilt, hand-painted floral centre-pieces, two with roses and forget-me-nots, two with lily-of-the-valley, g.e., in fitted brown leather-bound wood box, the hinged front cover ruled gilt, applied gilt corners with floral design and gilt and white-metal title in centre, lock (lacking key), the albums each 5¼ x 4¼ in., the box 12¼ x 10.1/8 in. One album contains eleven cartes relating to the collecting of carte-de-visite photographs, including two humorous subjects with donkeys, four composites of text and photographs, two hand-tinted, the others combining text and illustration; another includes seven studies of birds, each hand-tinted, four signed [Jno.] R. Sheraton in ink on verso, printed titles in German and Latin and series numbers on mounts, three with printed Latin titles on mounts, titled again in French, German and English on verso with series number and credit Gesetzl. deponirt., two flower still-life studies from the series Blumen und Blthen also signed by Sheraton on verso, and one flower study by F. Fridrich of Prague;
