Including several portraits of Abdul Hamid II the Sultan of Turkey (1842-1918), the sons of the Sultan, Sultan Abdulah Mohamed, the statesman Fuad Pasha (1814-1869), the Egyptian revolutionist Arabi Pasha Ahmed (1841-1919), Generals Omar Pasha (1837-1900), Mukhar Pasha Ahmed (1832-1919) and Hussein Pasha (1819-1876), a group portrait of the generals, the Shah of Persia Nasser ed Din (1830-1896), a portrait of an attendant of the Sultan inscribed on the reverse Given by the Queen July 1867...Shortly after I was dining with Queen Victoria and photographs of the Sultan's suite were handed round; I chanced to say this is my friend that I sat next to the day the Turkish Sultan came to Windsor. The Queen then said: Oh you must have it. J.W.L. (J.W.Legg, tutor of the Prince of Wales), the Khedire of Egypt; Chulalongkorn, the King of Siam (1853-1910); the Moslem agitator Mohammed Ahmed (1843-1885), Zanzibar, and two portraits of a Turkish Ambassador.
