Album of 104 cartes-de-visite, two hand-tinted, inserted in pre-cut window mounts with arched corners, gilt-edged, the majority of sitters identified in pencil in a later hand on mounts, printed title page in Italian commemorating the 20th anniversary on 4 August 1878 of the fight for independence of the cities of Trieste, Trento, Istria and Gorizia, brown morocco by L. Gagliardi, Milan, with maker's name engraved on metal label inside front cover, front cover with applied metal figure of an archangel guarding an eagle in chains, with heraldic corner pieces engraved Trento, Istria, Gorizia & Gradisca, and Trieste, linked by chainwork border (inner hinges weak), g.e., lge. 4to.
