A globular tripod koro and cover
with Buddhistic lion finial, painted and gilt with alternating panels of ladies and girls reading on terraces, girls at leisure before baskets of flowers and trailing sprays of chrysanthemums, all on a ground of dense butterflies in flight, between formal borders -- 3½in. (8.9cm.) high, signed Kyozan; and a cylindrical beaker with short foot, decorated with a checkered design of alternating squares and stylised open flowerheads -- 3in. (7.5cm.) high, signed Kutani, Shinko, (handles missing and finial damaged to first item).
