Manuscript with 6 leaves, 370 x 238 mm., probably in the handwriting of Rabbi Zvi Berlin, former Chief Rabbi of Hambro Synagogue in London. -- manuscript with 2 leaves, written in 1780, probably by Berlin's son, Saul, who was at that time rabbi in Frankfurt; it might be that he brought in his father to compose these records -- Family Papers of the Abraham Family, Denmark Court, Strand, London: beginning in 1803. Including single manuscript sheet registering family births, 1803-1828; Birth, death and marriage announcements; marriage contract from Newcastle, 1850 (on parchment); another marriage contract from London, 18 December 1893 (printed formulary on parchment, filled in), recording the union of Herbert Philip Abraham and Laura Cohen at New West End Synagogue; Masonic Certificates printed on parchment and filled in, 1820 and 1891; 4 letters, one from Hannah Rothschild; account ledger of Mr. Abraham in Acct with Lamberts & MacLaurin, 1812-1824; several letters from Sara Bloom to Solomon Abraham, before and after marriage; Family deed of arrangement, manuscript on parchment, 10 November 1864, signed with wax-seals; another document of 13 January 1933; and other documents relating to the history of the Abraham family. Circa 44 items -- Anglo-Jewish documents and printed broadsheets. Including a letter of Rabbi Yitzchak Nieto (son of Rabbi David Nieto) to Rabbi David Berlin in Altona, 25 Tishrei 5530 (1770), stating that Mordecai b. Leizer, called Marcus Lazarus, is still alive and does not upkeep Judaism; his entire possessions are not worth more than 150 litrin, the equivalent of 1000 American dollars -- his wealth exists only in the imagination of his (future) heirs. Nieto mentions that he received his information from one of the heirs who wrote a letter to America, where Marcus Lazarus was in residence.
