Rectangular hiramaki-e lacquer patch box, the cover painted with parakeets in a seaside landscape, the sides with a diaper pattern, the lid opening to reveal two compartments, one, for the gum, with laterally hinged cover painted with a duck resting near a temple, the other containing the dark horn gum-brush, the inside of the base compartment lacquered in red and containing some original Louis XV black taffeta mouches, the insides of both lids inset with mirrors, the thumbpiece engraved and chased with scrolls, with wavy flanges
