A GEORGE III GOLD-MOUNTED SHAGREEN NÉCESSAIRE

Slightly tapering rectangular shagreen-covered case with rounded ends, the pierced gold mounts chased with rocaille scrolls, both sides of cover applied with architecural gold reliefs, the obverse of the base applied with a gold relief of a seated musician playing the guitar, the reverse with a drinking gentleman, the inside with implements including a folding knife with engraved mother-of-pearl handle and two blades, a bodkin with incorporated ear-spoon and ear-pick, a gold cap for a pencil, tablets and steel scissors with gold handles
