Rectangular upright box of oval section, the slightly domed cover centred by a floral rosette in four-colour gold, both sides of the base chased with allegories of Love within burnished bands, on an engine-turned ground adorned with floral swags, the base chased with a flowerspray in four-colour gold, diamond-set pushpiece
68 mm. (2.5/8 in.) high

There appear to have been several goldsmiths with the surname Martinez working in Mexico City at this date.
