A 19th-Century mahogany microscope slide box,
containing seventy-one slides by Watson, Souter, Norman, Enock and other preparers, arranged in twelve trays designed for six slides per tray, subjects include entomology and marine zoology, five anatomy slides showing dissected insects, the case -- 7¾in. (19.7cm.) wide; and a pine microscope slide box containing six trays, each fitted for six slides, with twelve Roslin microphotographs, three with labels by J.H. Steward, subjects include No. 80 The Bath, a Sanitary Operation, Not Caught Yet, The Expected Penny and Cupboard Love, a collection of twenty-three microphotographs with labels inscribed A Photographic Curiosity For The Microscope, each initialled J.S., subjects include a diagram of the moon as shown by Lord Ross's great telescope, British Troops landing in China, and portraits of eminent Scots; one slide absent, the case -- 8¼in. (21cm.) wide
