With slightly tapering double-edged blade of flattened diamond section struck with a maker's mark and cut with a short fuller on each side, each fuller with a series of 'I' marks forming a ladder-pattern, later guard comprising a large side-ring and long straight quillons each of hexagonal section bars emanating from a quillon-block with incised borders, the side-ring with central baluster moulding, each quillon with swelling bud-shaped terminal, later leather-covered grip with incised ferrules, and large domed faceted pommel, probably 16th century, with copper-braized joints to the tang-button and base
