A COMPOSITE QUILLON DAGGER
CIRCA 1640-50
With tapering robust blade of diamond-section cut with two pairs of very narrow fullers over much of the length of both sides and flattened for the thumb on the inside, iron hilt chiselled with a basketwork pattern involving stylised expanded flowerheads over the ends of the quillons and at either end of the pommel, and with spirally moulded grip bound with wire and 'Turk's heads'.
