A COMPOSITE RAPIER INLAID WITH LAPIS
The blade circa 1600, the hilt 19th Century
With long tapering blade of flattened-hexagonal section cut with a fuller at the forte and retaining traces of a bladesmith's inscription on both sides, border-engraved ricasso struck with two bladesmith's marks on both sides, later iron three-ring hilt of slender bars cast with small panels of figures, trophies and foliage, incorporating oval lapis lazuli plaques at the median and terminal points, oviform pommel en suite, and patterned wire bound grip with 'Turk's heads'.
