Of rectangular shape illustrated with a scene of Munechika forging a sword, assisted by a fox spirit, the figures of applied lacquer and inlaid ivory and embellished with gold leaf, the reverse with two ivory inlaid foxes scampering over hills, red torii of the Inari Shrine in the distance, the landscape rendered in gold takamaki-e and hiramaki-e against a kinji ground, interior cases nashiji; fitted with a marbleized bead ojime and a manju netsuke designed in gold lacquer with chrysanthemums on a gyobu ground
