A French brass and Limoges enamel striking and repeating carriage clock with alarm
No.2651, retailed by Howell James, London & Paris. Circa 1890
The anglaise riche case with spiral-twist columns, the Limoges enamel dark crimson side panels decorated with fairies sitting in trees, one with a wand and the other with a mandolin, the dial with openwork mask cast with flowers and leaves, the white enamel Arabic chapter ring with retail signature OWELL (SIC) & JAMES THE QUEEN LONDON PARIS, with floral mount to the centre, the alarm ring below with plain centre disc, the twin barrel movement with silvered platform to the lever escapement with bimetallic balance, strike/repeat/alarm on gong via two hammers to the back plate numbered 2651
