A French gilt-brass and porcelain-mounted striking and repeating carriage clock with alarm
No.206. Circa 1875
The oval case with bowed Sèvres-blue porcelain panels to sides and rear, those to the sides painted with reserves of a female figure with amorino in a garden and the rear panel with a classical folly, each within gilt-painted and enamel-jewelled borders, the conforming dial painted with a child with a dove and an amorino, the white painted Roman chapter circle centred by a dove flying to its nest, with blued steel spade hands, alarm dial below, the twin barrel movement with silvered platform to lever escapement with bimetallic balance, strike/repeat/alarm on gong via two hammers to back plate numbered 206
