A George III mahogany and brass-mounted striking table clock, circa 1810
With brass handle to brass-lined pad on breakarch top, fishscale sound frets to the sides and to the front door, with brass mouldings to the front angles and on brass bracket feet, the white painted Roman convex dial with steel tear-drop hands, the eight day five pillar movement with shouldered plates, twin wire fusees with anchor escapement and strike on bell, the back plate with engraved border, pendulum holdfast and signed James Payne/London; lacking strike/silent, trip repeat and holdfast -- 16¼in. (41.5cm.) high to fold of handle; with an associated mahogany wall bracket with openwork support and backboard
