The case with flat top hood with later giltwood finials, blind fret carved panel to the cornice and outset fluted columns, with crossbanding to the wavy arch trunk door, quatrefoil panel to the plinth on bracket feet, the 11in. (28cm.) square gilt brass dial with foliate scroll and shell spandrels to the silvered chapter ring, date aperture to the centre, signed within a floral cartouche Sam.l Harley and Salop below, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 89½in. (227cm.) high
