The rectangular hinged divided top lifting to reveal a leather-lined slanted writing surface and a mechanical lifting superstructure fitted with pigeonholes and drawers flanked by hinged sides enclosing further lidded compartments above a false frieze drawer flanked by two small drawers over a further drawer, the arched kneehole flanked by panelled doors enclosing folio slides and drawers, the reverse fitted with false drawers and doors, one lockplate stamped BARRON'S VR PATENT beneath a crown
