Lot Essay

The elaborately decorated three-dimensional handle placed on three points of the upper edge of the vessel suggests that this ware was used in a hanging position, supported by a cord. The blackened soot on the top half of the vessel indicates use over a fire.

The result of Oxford Authentication Ltd thermoluminescence test, no. N100e94, is consistent with the dating of this lot.
