by Charles Le Bastier (fl. 1754-1783), Paris, 1765/1766, with the charge and export discharge marks of Jean-Jacques Prévost 1762-1768, the base struck with inventory number 1267
Oval box, the cover, sides and base enamelled in translucent green on a basse-taille ground, the lid centred by an oval enamel plaque of a Bacchante raising a chalice, a cherub at her feet, painted in grisaille on mauve ground, within a reeded gold mount with two-colour gold ribbon-tie and laurel surmount, the green enamel borders of cover, sides and base applied with twisted leaf motif, the sides and cover with oval reserves of swirling flower-heads divided by four green enamelled pilasters; in hinged green shagreen case lined with orange plush
