A LOUIS XV GOLD SNUFF-BOX SET WITH A DIAMOND-BORDERED MINIATURE
by Charles-Alexandre Bouillerot (fl. 1769-1792), marked, Paris, 1772/1773, with the charge and discharge marks of Julien Alaterre, the flange struck with inventory no. 301
Oval box, the cover, sides and base with panels of wavy horizontal engine-turning within fluted borders, the lid centred by an oval enamel miniature depicting a young lady with low-cut pink dress reclining on her green-upholstered sofa, within a translucent green enamelled coin pattern border, rose-cut diamond frame, the sablé borders chased with a garland of leaves entwined with ribbons, the four side pilasters similarly engraved with vases of flowers
