A Meissen teabowl and saucer
Circa 1723, lustre V and v1 to teabowl and 311. 111 to saucer
The teabowl painted with a traveller beside his horse feeding from a nosebag and carrying a large bundle on its back in an extensive mountainous landscape within a gilt quatrefoil cartouche edged with iron-red and gilt foliage scrolls, the reverse with a bird and insects in flight, the interior with an Eisenrot landscape, the saucer with three figures skirmishing on horseback, within a similar cartouche, the underside with three concentric iron-red circles, the saucer and interior of the teabowl with interlocking gilt C-scroll and flowerhead borders below gilt line rims (teabowl with three minute chips to rim and chip to footrim, saucer with slight wear to gilt cartouche)
