A Meissen two-handled mining tureen and cover
Circa 1740, blue crossed swords mark
Painted with scattered flowers and mining scenes, the first side with two miners sifting ore by a hut, the reverse with two miners with ore in a wheelbarrow, below an ozier-moulded border, the handles formed as ribbon-tied entwined branches with flower terminals, the domed cover with a rose finial, painted with a miner carrying his pick over his shoulder before other miners hauling up ore through a hut, the other side with a miner leaning on his pick (slight chipping to finial and terminals, chip to flange of cover, very slight scratching to enamels)
