Lot Essay

RMS Caronia was one of the first ships to be purpose built for the role of transatlantic crossings, soon becoming one of the most important ships in the post-war British Merchant Navy. She had a profitable and illustrious career with Cunard, spanning nearly twenty years. Painted in a pale green livery the Caronia became know as the 'Green Goddess' while her Art Deco interiors and high crew to passenger ratio earned her a reputation for luxury cruising.
