A PAIR OF CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL LANTERN 'BELLS'
18TH CENTURY
Probably adapted from lantern bases, each is of bell shape and encircled by bands of flower and lotus scroll alternating with gilt bands of petal lappets and taotie masks. The flat top has a small circular dragon plaque below the bronze handle shaped as the arched, common body of two addorsed dragons, their forelegs bent at the rim of the top as they lower their heads to the shoulder.
