Lot Essay

Cantonnières were conceived to frame windows, doors or passages with curtains behind. The designs were usually made to match the upholstery of tapestry furnishings. The offered lot were originally from a set of four, the pendant pair was sold from the Wildenstein Akram Ojjeh collection, Sotheby's Monaco, 25-26 June 1979, lot 100.
