Lot Essay

An almost identical selette, or gaine, is illustrated in C. Payne, François Linke: The Belle Epoque of French Furniture, Woodbridge, 2003, p. 53, pl 44. An early work titled by Linke ‘pedestal Louis XVI acajou et bronzes doré’. A single example sold A Private Collection Volume I, Sotheby’s New York, 26 October 2006, lot 60 ($13,200).
