A pair of Meissen (outside-decorated) blue-ground ovoid vases
with spiralling serpent handles, painted to either side with Watteauesque scenes within shaped roundels gilt with scrolling foliage, beneath a border painted with similar cartouches, above gadrooned pink-ground lower section and circular foot, blue crossed swords and cancellation marks, incised H148, circa 1880 (small chips, rubbing to gilding) -- 48cm. high
