Lot Essay

These urns are based on the celebrated model, now in the Wallace Collection, London, known as Cassolette à monter or vase 'Daguerre ovale', with its gilt-bronze mounts attributed to Pierre-Philippe Thomire and supplied by the marchand-mercier Daguerre.
