Each with a domed lid and berried finial, above a waisted neck, flanked to each side by a pair of square shaped spiral-turned handles, above a spreading socle, on square panelled plinth and square stepped base, the underside stamped MASSELOTTE

Lot Essay

These urns are based on the celebrated model, now in the Wallace Collection, London, known as Cassolette à monter or vase 'Daguerre ovale', with its gilt-bronze mounts attributed to Pierre-Philippe Thomire and supplied by the marchand-mercier Daguerre.
