A ROMAN MARBLE PORTRAIT HEAD OF A WOMAN
CIRCA EARLY 3RD CENTURY A.D.
The head turned slightly to the left, her long wavy hair centrally parted, twisted into long rope of hair pulled up onto the crown of the head and then back down to the nape, locks of shorter curly hair behind her ears, with upward gazing articulated eyes, small downturned mouth, 'Venus' rings indicated on her neck

Private collection, France, acquired 1930s; thence by descent to the present owner.
