A SCOTTISH BASKET-HILTED BROADSWORD
Late 17th Century
With broad flattened blade with central fuller for three-quarters of its length, the iron hilt comprising guard of characteristic form of slender vertical bars framing S-shaped bars set sideways, and saltires, centering on shaped six-sided panels bordered by triple engraved lines, fore-guards (rear quillon missing), later pommel of truncated conical shape, and later wooden grip (split)
