The cup painted with baskets of pink roses flanked by blue foliage scrolls entwined with garlands and swags of pink flowers within purple band circular cartouches reserved on a yellow ground enriched with dark-lavender dots, beneath a border of dark-lavender fruiting vine, the rims gilt, the saucer with a central radiating spray of pink roses pierced by two blue arrows and with three oval panels of roses on a yellow-tasselled blue cloth flanked by foliage, a vase of flowers and scrolling foliage entwined with pink flowering garlands, within purple band cartouches reserved on a similar ground, the border with flowering swags pendant from tied ribbon and entwined with foliage beneath a gilt rim, blue interlaced L marks, date letter gg(?), painter's mark cm for Commelin, the cup with incised 36 and the saucer 40
