A Small Japanese Kakiemon Bowl
Edo Period (Late 17th Century)
With a flared quatrefoil ogival rim, painted in iron-red, yellow, green and black and enriched in gilding, each side with flowering plum and peony branches issuing from rockwork and with birds in flight, the upper side of the rim with two red dragons divided by two flaming pearls, the base of the interior with a coiled phoenix (restoration to base, some wear to gilding and base of interior)
2½ in. (6.4 cm.) high
