A Victorian walnut and mahogany wall regulator probably Scottish; circa 1850 the case with mahogany mouldings to the walnut veneered trunk door, long glazed arched sides, the later silvered Roman dial with blued spade hands and subsidiary seconds ring, the movement with A-shaped plates with six front-pinned pillars, the wheel train with six crossings, maintaining power to the great wheel, Graham-type deadbeat escapement, the elaborate steel and brass nine-rod gridiron pendulum with beat regulation above the movement plates, the movement seated on two large brackets secured to the backboard 74 ins.
