Lot Essay

We are grateful to Fred Meijer, of the RKD, The Hague, for identifying this painting as an early work of c. 1675-80 by the artist, executed when he was still strongly influenced by the paintings of his father, Jacques de Claeuw (Dordrecht 1623-after 1694).
