The suspension loop on top of the case is raised to move four blued-iron index arms beneath a domed glass cover. The arms are arranged to read off four concentric scales, number in single units, tens, hundreds and 1M-10M. The glass cover and the movement are both hinged for access. There is a similar glass dome on the reverse through which part of the movement is visible, bearing the maker's name (indistinct) and A MEZIERES. A gilt-lead weight in the form of a tassle is suspended from the underside of the case by a leather strap.
Special notice

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis
