THIRD INTERMEDIATE PERIOD, 22ND DYNASTY, 945-712 B.C.
Sculpted in sunk relief, preserving a pharaoh facing right, wearing a broad collar and either the Red Crown or Double Crown fronted by a uraeus, presenting a Sbt (clepsydra or water clock) to a goddess, only her lily-topped scepter preserved to the right, the Sbt represented as a baboon seated against an obelisk, the bases of two cartouches preserved above

Lot Essay

The Sbt offering is mainly presented to goddesses, primarily lioness-headed ones. The lily-topped scepter is also associated with lioness-headed goddesses (see T. Handoussa, "A propos de l'offrande Sbt," Studien zur Altägyptischen Kultur 7).
